The time has come for me to enter the world of analog exhibitions.
I may therefore proudly announce my first real exhibition of my series "Nightshift" in the gallery "Heimatdesign" in Dortmund [link] - quite a cool place.
I would be happy to meet you there on the 17th of June 2011.
If we don´t have it you don´t want it!
...sorry, I simply had to say that.
A great artist, colleague, philanthropist and last but not least a good friend of mine, himself did me the honour and worte the following about the series:
""There is a trend in photography to elevate the mundane to art. A simple look at this collection of photographs could force them into that idiom. But this would be a terrible mistake. All of the choices made by this wonderfully skilled photographer’s eye are about the inherent excitement of the subject matter as color, as form, as style and most importantly as story - - stories that are not at all mundane but full of the clear challenge for these shopkeepers. The variety of the inventory peeking out of these images is a metaphor of the marvelous complications in urban life. These are images you can live with because they reflect life itself."
So, dying to know, how was the opening of the show and did it exceed all of your expectations! Unfortunately I was on a mission for dA in another city and in another country but still apologize for not getting to your gallery.
I wish I could take off fast to meet you and your wonderful work! I'll be thinking about you and hope you'll take some shots of the show for your distant admirers
